Location: Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area - Irwindale, CA Santa Fe Dam is a unit of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, maintained and operated by the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation Join the Cast of the Renaissance Pleasure FaireIRWINDALE, California ( December 21, 2007)... Wanted: Talented, interactive, energetic performers to serve as time travel guides. The Time: The English Renaissance (circa 1540 -1603). The Place: The Renaissance Pleasure Faire at the beautiful Santa Fe Damn Recreation Area in Irwindale, CA. The Travelers: An audience of thousands looking for an opportunity to experience YOU! The Renaissance Pleasure Faire offers a range of unique performing opportunities. We emphasize performer/audience interaction; performers should have a flair for improvisation and be able to create spontaneous dialogue with fellow cast members and the audience. A theatrical training is a plus but not essential. Performers at the Faire develop tremendous confidence, audience awareness as well as character and improvisational skills. The Renaissance Pleasure Faire is auditioning for the roles of: Queen Elizabeth I We are seeking a dynamic actress with a love for environmental theatre. Keen knowledge of the time period is preferred. Classical training and mprovisational skills a plus. You will need to be comfortable in an outdoor environment during the summer in full Elizabethan clothing. Improvising with fellow cast members and the audience will be required. You will need to be available to join the cast full time as a member of the Court of Queen Elizabeth and be available to rehearse as scheduled. The Faire will costume you for your role as Queen. You will need to prepare and be ready to present two contrasting monologues, both classical, one dramatic, one comedic. A speech of Elizabeth I is preferred but not required. Monologues should be no more than 3 minutes in length. Be prepared to participate in improvisational exercises. This is a paid role. Theme Characters & Assorted Featured Players We are seeking dynamic, gregarious, "larger than life" actors with a love for environmental theatre. Keen knowledge of the time period is preferred. This year's theme takes us to an exotic sea port in Britain, therefore, we are looking for unique foreign characters from all over the world as well as the following Renaissance Faire favorites:
Theatre training and improvisational skills are a plus as you will be interacting with fellow cast members and the audience. You must be willing to work in an outdoor environment during the summer. You will need to prepare two contrasting monologues, one dramatic, one comedic. One of classical nature is preferred but not required. No more than 3 minutes in length. Be prepared to participate in improvisational exercises. Some roles are paid. Musicians & Variety Performers We are seeking talented, dynamic, interactive musicians and variety performers/acts. Musicians are needed with early music repertoire (both English and World) to help create the "sound track" and ambience of the faire as strolling or stationary performers. The use of period instruments is strongly suggested but not required. You will need to prepare and be ready to present two contrasting period songs, one up tempo and one lyrical. No more then 3 minutes in length. Variety performers / acts should be ready to present the best 5 minutes of your act. Opportunity for pay possible but not guaranteed.
