The Renaissance Pleasure Faire offers a range of unique performing opportunities. We emphasize on positive performer/audience interaction; performers should have a flair for improvisation and be able to create spontaneous dialogue with fellow cast members and the audience. A theatrical training is a plus but not essential. Performers at the Faire develop tremendous confidence, audience awareness as well as character and improvisational skills.
Who We’re Seeking:
- A Trio of Female Singers
We are seeking three female singers who can sing in three-part harmony acapella. Singers must be able to project as we are an outdoor environment. We are seeking a soprano singer, a mezzo singer, and an alto to complete our trio. Singers may audition as a group or singularly for these roles.
This season we are also seeking male dancers and movement-trained actors for a performance. Auditionees should be able to show emotion, intention, and grace in their bodies when giving a performance. Auditionees should prepare for this audition as if they were auditioning as a Fantastikal by in addition to the other audition requirements, also putting together a short movement piece, but with an added direction of including drama in their story. (See requirements below.)
- Understudy for Queen Elizabeth I
We are also seeking an understudy for the role of Queen Elizabeth I. This role requires a strong, gracious actor who understands the history of our time period and the woman who led it. Actor must be willing to learn and embody the history and being of Elizabeth, as well as undertake the task of performing in all types of weather in an ever-changing outdoor environment. Actor should be comfortable with improvisation as well as memorizing lines. If cast, the actor must also be willing to change her appearance to suit the role.
RPF is seeking LARPers, gamers, and role-playing enthusiasts of all shapes and sizes to join the cast of RenQuest! Join the crew of the Captain Grace O’Malley and help players navigate their way in an immersive Live-Action Role-Playing Game (or LARP) that happens right inside the faire! RenQuest is looking for villains, heroes, and people who like to work with puppets for this season’s quest!
We are seeking energetic, creative and imaginative individuals to portray the Fae of Elizabethan and Shakespearian lore. You will become “Such stuff as dreams are made of”. We are seeking actors with strong movement skills, imagination, love of history and of nature, lots of stamina, positive attitude, team spirit, and excitement for a completely unique performance opportunity.
- Every performer auditioning should be prepared to sing 16 bars of any song. All performers will sing at some time during the faire day, usually as a group. Please do not let this stop you from auditioning.
- Every performer must recite a memorized monologue no longer than 45 seconds (preferably from a stage play).
- Every performer must also be prepared to participate in acting improvisation exercises with a group.
- If you would like to audition to be a Fantastikal: In addition to the above requirements you must prepare a 2-minute movement piece without music or speech. Please show a variety of movement and emotion while portraying a non-human character in a story with a beginning, middle, and end.
Please come dressed and ready for movement. If you have any special talents that you would like to demonstrate for us, please be ready to do so. Please bring a head shot and resume or a press kit if you have one to the auditions. Auditions are by appointment only. You must be willing to work in an outdoor environment during summer-like weather on weekends during the months of March, April, and May. You will need to be available to join the cast full time and to rehearse as scheduled. Rehearsals begin in March, 2017 (Saturdays and Sundays) at the Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area in Irwindale, CA. The Faire runs weekends from April 8 through May 21, 2017.
