The Joust
Our Jousts recreate the thrill of a true historic tournament. Witness knights in shining armor wielding weapons of war atop mighty warhorses for thine entertainment! Cheer for thy champion amid the pomp and pageantry of a martial competition that has fired imaginations for more than five hundred years!  

Presented by: The Jousters (All Season)
The Jousters have an entertainingly fresh take on a very old sport. These knights are excited to bring their fully-armored, hard-hitting, and wholly unique style of jousting to the Faire. Combined with bold attitudes and fierce competition, this is a true sport. Every lance break and shield shatter achieved is done in an authentic quest for victory! 

Put yourself in the middle of the action with VIP Seating at the Roselawn Tournament Joust Field! Enjoy the Royal Treatment with covered seating, a bottle of water and an exclusive souvenir. Tickets are $5 per person/per Joust! Seating is limited to 300 people per joust and may be purchased at the Information Booth in the Village Green. VIP seating opens 30 minutes before each show.

Aaron Bonk
Aaron Bonk is a unique entertainer with a twisted sense of humor who risks his life to make you laugh. His refreshingly original Fire Whip Sword Show is a seriously ridiculous blend of amazing artistry, extraordinary skill and crazy personality. Machetes, whips, axes and fire–the hottest show in all the ‘Shire!

Acrobatrix
Acrobatrix is a two person comedy circus spectacular! Bending, flipping and flying through the air — the show is action packed from start to finish. Stahr is a quirky contortionist and Thunder is a witty acrobat. They are the perfect couple, but there are only two things that can ruin this relationship: he’s one and she’s the other.

The greatest combatants in Sterling Shire cross blades, trade blows and strain sinew, all for Her Majesty’s entertainment, and thine, in these rollicking contests of strategy and skill! Presented by the NYRF Fight Guild. Twice daily.

Crimson Pirates
Queen Elizabeth knows that she can depend upon her pirate friends to lift her spirits with rousing renditions of salty sea tunes. August 5 & 6, 12 & 13.

Faeries
The Fairies are back in Sterlingshire! These gentle spirits of nature bestow fairy blessings upon all.

Shakespeare Approves!
Join Shakespeare, the Bard of Avon, as he takes you on adventures full of merriment, sword fights, mistaken identities, star-cross’d lovers, romance, shipwrecks, musical numbers, and … being pursued by a bear! The Shakespearean adventures are a family-friendly, madcap, zany time where everyone gets involved, whether you want to jump onstage as a performer or sit back in the audience & enjoy the fun! Heroes, like swords, are forged in fire. The villainous Sheriff of Nottingham and his thuggish Guards rule the highways and byways of Sterling Shire with an iron fist. Are you prepared to help Robin Hood, his beloved Maid Marian and the Merry Band of heroic Outlaws put an end to the Sheriff’s tyranny once and for all? Follow the ALL-NEW swashbuckling adventures of Robin Hood throughout the Faire day, especially at our Combat Chess Matches and the Final Showdown prior to the Royal joust.

The Jamila Lotus Bellydance Carnivale performs fast-paced original choreography, traditional Middle Eastern bellydance, and feats of balance and daring, featuring a dynamic live band! All Season.

The Tortuga Twins
The internationally renowned Tortuga Twins (all three of them) bring their outrageous style of comedy to the New York Renaissance Faire. Beware! They have been called “Asthma-attack-inducingly funny.”

Gi Shiata (Deception Theater)
Sleight of hand artist Bret Blackshear creates interactive mysteries with cards, rings, coins, thimbles, and rope. Watch him and you will say simply “wow”. Performing throughout the village. All Season

Jeremiah Wiggins
Jeremiah Wiggins close up magician, storyteller, and human ambassador to the faerie realm. While Jeremiah seems to be a human fantasy jukebox his true agenda is educating folk in the needs of the little people and getting himself elected again. He is recognizable by his very large mushroom, the soapbox upon which he stands. If you don’t believe in faeries before you have met Wiggins you most likely will after. This multidimensional traveller has been performing at Renaissance and faerie festivals for over twenty years. 

The Raven
The Raven is a black feathered bird man that flies on top of a ball using Kung Fu fans for wings. He swoops down and invites his audience into his world of “eggstroardinary” magic. Joshua Safford has been playing the Raven at Renaissance festivals for almost two decades mesmerizing folk with an unusual blend of close up magic, clowning, and circus skills. 

Maypole/Peasant Dance
Come be a part of the magic as shire residents (and a few from the Greenwood!) dance the Maypole! Fun for adults and children. All Season.

Eddie Jeff Cahill

Eddie Jeff brings dignity and pride to the ancient craft of the traveling singer-poet-storyteller. Aug 6 – Sept 25.

The Freestylers of Piping

Bagpipes are so much more than amazing grace! Feast your ears on the creative improvisations that flow through the familiar tunes of The Freestylers of Piping and you’ll never think of pipes the same way again.

Kathleen Finnegan
Kathleen brings music of the past alive with the magic of the Irish harp. In ancient tradition music had the power to bring joy, sorrow, and peace, all of which Kathleen delights to share. Experience beloved music of the Celtic, ancient, and classical traditions, some familiar and some that is new again. 

Lady Prudence, Court Composer
With Songs for All Occasions, Lady Prudence will sing a song to suit any mood, be it love, loss, food, drink, monsters, or a dance tune, with the help of harp, whistle, and shaker! Find her by the Kissing Bridge and you may earn her favour, or even join the band! 

Fiddler’s Tales
This solo artist with international flair serenades with Scottish, Irish, English and Russian folk songs. She infuses vivacity and sheer joy in her love of music.

Vince Conaway, Dulcimer
Hammered Dulcimer Player: Performing original, traditional, and historical music on hammered dulcimer, coupling the passion of Celtic music with the stateliness of ancient forms. All Season.

Queen Elizabeth is our wise, beautiful, and strong young monarch who has received royal proposals from around the world. Which will she choose? While all are kept guessing she continues to play the marriage game and keeps all of her partners dancing to her tune.

 

Lord Robert Dudley

The dashing Lord Robert Dudley is the Queen’s Master of the Horse, but is he also master of her heart? Only he, the Queen, and his wife know for sure.

From his secret encampment in the Greenwood, this bold outlaw leads a ragtag band of outcasts dedicated to protecting the peasants of Sterling Shire from the vile Sheriff of Nottingham.

 

Lady Marian Fitzwalter of Castle Dunmow

While Maid Marian has given her heart — and her strong sword arm! — to Robin Hood you may often find her dancing feet and golden voice at the Maypole!

Join the legendary Outlaw Band — Little John, Friar Tuck, Will Scarlet, Jenny Wren, Alan-A-Dale, Fanny Little, David of Doncaster and Tom Sparrow — on their rollicking adventures in the Greenwood!

The Guards of Sterling Shire

No purse is safe from these tax-happy brutes! Find them training with sword, knife, axe and whip at the Sheriff’s encampment.

Philip De Marque, the Sheriff of Nottingham

He IS the law.  Along with his villainous sister Valentina and hired sword Guy de Gisbourne, Philip de Marque makes his fortune off the taxes of the cities of Sterling Shire!

Mayor Bartholomew Bombadil 

With the support of his brilliant wife, Lady Montgomery, Blanche Dorothea-Rose Bombadil, Mayor Bombadil keeps the ale flowing, the marketplace humming and limericks rhyming!

Alalia LaReign Dublanche — The Queen of the Fae

Sovereign of the Seelie Court, the White Queen has gifted Sterling Shire with all of the magic, wonder and beauty of the Faerie Lands. Those with eyes to see may often find her holding court in the Enchanted Forest.

Oberon

A Faerie King steps out of the forest and through the veil in search of his Faerie Queen. He brings with him the promise of a bountiful Autumn and a merry harvest celebration.

The Buccaneers of Pirate’s Cove
