Long
ago, before kings used lines on maps to separate their realms, a rift
between the worlds briefly opened. The dark demoness, Tiamat, summoned
monsters from the shadows of forests, mountains and men’s hearts. In
the name of the Lord of the Light, a cadre of knights assembled under
General Sir Gabriel Newberry and named themselves the Order of the Sun.
Evil was vanquished methodically under their banner of blue and gold.
After a seven month battle, the Order won
the war and the serpentine goddess fell against their blades.
Centuries
have passed since that fabled day. Originally, the Order filled a need
by slaying the dark terrors that plagued the lands but as the years
passed that sort of legendary evil became nothing but myth. The Order still exists to this day and focuses on the traits of honor, loyalty, justice,
adhering to the law of the land and protecting the people.
Membership
in the Order is looked highly upon. Members are the “virtuous side” of
the gypsies at Bristol. The Order harbors ambitious, righteous souls
who crave a means to defend good against all odds. Many see it as a
group of paladins fighting to find a cause again, but their rigorous
attention to detail and organizational mindsets let them fare quite well
in the “business” side of gypsy life: the (ahem) black market.
With
the dragon slain and their Paragon protectors/leaders gone, the Order
of the Sun is restless to find ways to reestablish their role as the
defenders of mankind. The Band of the Twisted Claw’s leader, Thoren
Grymm, senses a darkness rising akin to the ancient demoness. Eager to
be prepared, the Order seeks new blood to bolster their ranks and carry
the banner of a once honored band of warriors.
